Move, resize, and rotate a chart

You can manipulate charts on a sheet to make the sheet look just the way you want.

Move a chart

  • Drag the chart to where you want it on the sheet.

As you drag, yellow alignment guides help you position the chart in relation to other objects on the sheet. Alignment guides are turned on by default in Numbers. You can turn them off in the Rulers pane of Numbers preferences.

Resize a chart

  • Select the chart, then drag any of the selection handles (the white squares) on the chart’s border to make the chart larger or smaller.

To set a specific size for a chart, click anywhere in the chart. In the Arrange pane of the Format inspector, type values in the Width and Height fields.

Rotate a 3D chart

You can rotate a 3D chart to adjust its angle and orientation.

  1. Select the chart.

  2. Drag the rotation control Rotation control on the chart to rotate it until it’s in the orientation you want.

If you can’t edit a chart, it may be locked. To edit it, you must unlock it.
