Customize your app
You can customize the Numbers window to help you better create and organize your spreadsheets.
Zoom in or out
You can enlarge (zoom in) or reduce (zoom out) your view of a sheet. For example, zoom out when you want to work on the layout of your charts; zoom in to focus on editing a table.
Choose a zoom level from the Zoom pop-up menu in the toolbar.
Set the default zoom level
By default, Numbers spreadsheets open at 125%, but you can change that setting.
Choose Numbers > Preferences (from the Numbers menu at the top of your computer screen).
In the General section, choose an option from the Default Zoom pop-up menu.
Customize the toolbar
The toolbar gives you quick access to the tools you need and actions you perform in Numbers. As you discover which actions you perform most often, you can add, remove, and rearrange toolbar buttons to suit your work style.
Choose View > Customize Toolbar (from the View menu at the top of your computer screen).
-
Do any of the following:
Add or remove items from the toolbar: Drag an item to the toolbar to add it. Drag an item away from the toolbar to remove it.
-
Rearrange items in the toolbar: Drag an item to reorder it.
The Format and Sort & Filter inspector buttons move together; you can’t separate them.
Reset the toolbar: To return the toolbar to the default set of items, drag the set at the bottom of the window to the toolbar.
Hide icon names: Choose Icon Only from the pop-up menu at the bottom of the window. By default, Numbers shows icons and text.
Click Done.
You can also hide the toolbar by choosing View > Hide Toolbar; to show it again, choose View > Show Toolbar.
Show or hide inspectors
You can hide the Format and Sort & Filter inspectors if you want more space for your spreadsheet in the Numbers window.
Choose View > Inspector > Hide Inspector (from the View menu at the top of your computer screen, not in the toolbar).
If the inspectors are hidden, choose View > Inspector > Show Inspector to show them, or click Format or Sort & Filter in the toolbar.
