Lock a spreadsheet

You can lock a spreadsheet so it can’t be edited, moved, deleted, or renamed.

Lock and unlock a spreadsheet

  1. Click the spreadsheet name at the top of the window.

  2. Select the Locked checkbox to lock the spreadsheet, or deselect the checkbox to unlock the spreadsheet.

  3. Click outside the dialog to close it.

Locking a spreadsheet isn’t the same as protecting it with a password—anyone can unlock the spreadsheet.
